I’m not one to usually give bad reviews, but I must say I was very disappointed with my evening at Platform 7, in Upminster, Essex. I wouldn’t tell people not to go and give it a try, but I’d say go with a very open mind.
I had very high expectations of the venue as it’d had rave reviews from various people in social circles that I know. I even managed to blag entry to their over 25’s evening, and I’m guessing this is where I went wrong! We were used to fashionable bars, with underage kids, and too much alcohol.
Sadly the bar staff were what let this place down for me, they didn’t even seem old enough to be working in there! I was left standing at the bar for a good ten minutes with no one else queuing. The staff were simply messing around by themselves and oblivious to their surroundings. Things like this really do bug me!
This is the kind of place I would imagine my parents drinking before or after a local dinner, but sadly it was not the kind of place a bunch of twenty something’s to go and dance their socks off. Drink prices appeared to get higher over the night, and I personally feel paying nearly £15 for 2 drinks is a little too steep for Essex. Myself and the group of friends I’d rounded up for the evening all headed off to Romford shamefully as we knew we could drink ourselves under the table for less than a tenner, and dance to some of today’s best tunes. How mature of us!
I’m sure once I’ve grown out of my terrible dancing (I can dream) and wish to sit and chat with the girls about our working weeks this will be the perfect venue.
