London Living with an Alternative Twist!

Dermalex.

For those of you who know me personally, or follow my Twitter (if not, why not?!) you will know that I suffer from Rosacea.

Rosacea is a chronic condition characterised by facial redness and sometimes pimples. Rosacea affects all ages and has four subtypes, three affecting the skin and one affecting the eyes.  I have a variation of the skin type that makes my cheeks red, like I’m embarrassed, after having one of my triggers.  This is called Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea, and luckily I only have a mild case of it.  I have a tendency to flush and blush easily and possibly burning, stinging, and/or itching sensations. People with this ETR type often have sensitive skin. Skin can also become very dry and flaky.

I was kindly contacted by the people at Dermalex to give one of their products a try when I have one of my flare ups occur.

Some of my main triggers are alcohol, caffeine and spicy foods, yes I know, how hideous!!  Another is going from cold to hot and vice versa, so you can imagine during the winter going from the old outside to warm heated trains/buildings my rosacea is having a field day!

I knew that last week’s events would mean a fair bit of alcohol, so that meant dealing with the consequences the next day.  Normally I would hide behind rosacea friendly foundation, but this week I would brave it without thanks to Dermalex!

After my first night of alcohol, I came home, took of my make up and applied the cream to my skin.  It was instantly cooling, and reduced a little of the redness that had began to appear already.  I applied morning and night through out the week, and believe it or not, after my last drinking event, there was no flare up!!

The great things about the Dermalex range its that it restores the skin barrier and treats rosacea symptoms, and doesn’t just mask the redness.  The product strengthens the skin barrier and protects against new outbreaks, as I was lucky to have seen last week! And it creates a moisturizing film on the skin that calms and soothes rather than smothering my pores and not doing my skin any good!

I am new convert to Dermalex, and will be using religiously!
