6 Easy Ways to Prepare Your Mind and Body for the Summer Sun

Summer has finally arrived and that can only mean one thing. Sunny weather! There’s nothing better for your mood than the sunshine. Especially after plenty of chilly months beforehand. However, because we’ve gotten used to grey days, it can be difficult to adjust to the summer sun. For both our bodies and our minds. Here are 6 easy ways to make sure you’re prepared for the best months of the year.

A Breath of Fresh Air

During the winter, we’re used to spending most of our days indoors, binging on Netflix box sets. It can be difficult to get out of that frame of mind and enjoy the sunny weather. Your first tip is to get outside! Even if it’s just a walk to the shops or around the block. Make sure you’re getting out and breathing in the fresh air as often as possible. Especially if you’re stuck in an office all day!

Protect Yourself

With the sunny weather comes some pretty harmful UV rays. As you’re going to be spending more time outside it’s important you know how to keep yourself protected. This means wearing hats, sunscreen and sunglasses. Even if it doesn’t feel too hot outside, those UV rays can do a lot of damage. Make sure you’re always protected and don’t forget a foundation with SPF in it!

Bye, Body Hair!

Hands up who gives up shaving over winter. Come on, most women do! When the sun comes out, you’re probably going to have a lot of skin on display. This means it’s goodbye body hair and hello smooth legs. If you want a long-term solution, then consider visiting one of your local IPL clinics for laser treatment. Alternatively, you could shave, epilate or wax. Depending on your pain threshold!

Drink Plenty of Water

Dehydration is a common problem during the summer, as many people forget to increase their intake of water. If you’re not getting enough water during hot days, then you could be putting yourself in some grave danger. Always carry a bottle around with you, to rehydrate when you’re out and about. You can also put it in the freezer for a few hours before going out, to ensure it doesn’t get too warm.

Exercise

If you want to get your body ‘bikini ready’ then it’s time to hit the gym! Of course, you don’t need to lose a ton of weight to be happy in your own skin. However, just the act of exercising can make you feel more confident and happy. It releases hormones which will help you feel more energetic and seriously pumped. If you want to make the most of the sun, get up early and go for a run around the block instead.

Socialise

If you want to get your mind in the right place during the summer, then make sure you organise events with friends. This will help you get outside more and enjoy the sunshine. It doesn’t have to be anything big and fancy. It could simply be a lunch date with the girls. Or, perhaps a BBQ in your back garden. Lots of people will also be back from University, so it’s the perfect time to catch up with old friends. Socialising in the sun equals a euphoric summer.

These are the easiest (and best) ways to prepare your mind and body for the summer sun. Make sure you’re always protected and that you spend as much time outside as you can. Who knows? This could be the best summer yet!
