When it comes to holiday’s I tend to avoid laying out in the sun, and hunt for culture in museums and historical sites, but for once I actually feel the need to chill out and do nothing! The chap and I are constantly on the go, so a nice week spent together in our own villa could be just what the doctor ordered!
After hunting around at places to visit we felt Mallorca should top our list; I visited there as a child and only have happy memories of it so why not head back a good twenty years later! Mallorca also has a decent amount of Roman remains too, just in case we decide to take in some culture!
Mallorca has so many lush areas, that I have made a shortlist of my favourite villa in each of the areas to share with the chap!
First up is Puerto de Alcúdia; some of the most amazing beaches of the Mediterranean and within walking distance of the town of Alcúdia, and I have chosen the stunning Villa Sampol for the incredibile swimming pool! It does sleep up to 8 people so I have a feeling this could turn into a cheeky group trip, but still be very relaxing! This villa literally screams holiday at me and I have a feeling that leaving somewhere like this could be pretty tough!
In Pollensa; originally a fishing village that still retains the charm of old traditions, filled with restaurants and bars, I’ve gone with Villa Almazara Varitx. Good lord, I want to live here a little too much! It’s a bit of a walk into the main town, but a stroll of an evening to get dinner and a cab back could be perfect! I’m a sucked for a stone built building, and sleeping up to 8 this won’t feel too big for just the two of us, ok, it’ll be huge for two of us, but I want to live like a Queen! It’s only a short walk from the beach, and for the chap, an even shorter walk to the local golf course. There’s even a vegetable garden and housekeeping; perfection!
In Formentor, Villa Gentil caught my eye, a beautiful seven bedroom villa that, of course, was made for a group trip with huge outdoor spaces, and a chef on request! The Formentor area has been a home away from home for many celebrities over the years, and it remains hugely unspoilt, making it the inspiration for artists and poets from a variety of eras. There’s also a marina and lighthouse that’s well worth a visit if you dare to leave the stunning beaches, and the luxurious villa!
Chosing these properties from Book Mallorca makes sense as they hand pick all of their villas so I know I will be happy when I arrive, the only thing left after making the tough decision of which villa to pick will be to brush up on my Spanish skills; ‘dos vino tinto por favor!’ that’s all I need to know right?!
