Shropshire Series: Ludlow

The final part of the Shropshire Series takes us to Ludlow, the place I want to retire too I’m that in love with it!

It was actually kinda hard picking just five things to do so we picked our favourites between us!

Our most favourite part of Ludlow was the Brewery Tour which happens every day at 3pm, and costs £6! There will be a full post coming on this soon though!

Our second most favourite was our visit to ‘Castle Lodge’ which funnily enough is next to Ludlow Castle! This is a privately owned Tudor home that is beyond incredible! It contains wood panelling that Henry VIII had put there, it’s worth over £9million and is the only panelling of its kind, how amazing! There is also a fireplace from Henry VIII that’s worth over a million pounds, and again, is the only one that exists out of the palaces! The residents of this home have been royalty, aristocracy and now the lovely gentleman who resides there now.  It costs a mere £3 to have a wander.

So who doesn’t love a good door! The whole of Broad Street is filled with amazing doors, the stuff dreams are made of! I did want to stop and photograph more, but I was slightly worried as they are all lived in and I didn’t want the residents thinking I was crazy!!

We would highly recommend a trip to Ludlow Castle as it’s stunning and has a cute little tea room attached. We’ve never made it inside as we’re great at visiting on day it’s closed but the surround grounds are lovely!

Lastly, check out when the market is open as they have local sellers with produce, clothing and bric-a-brac. Everyone is super friendly and it’s just the nicest way to spend half hour browsing.

I am completely in love with Ludlow and would love to know what you think if you go too!

I love Ludlow! I’ve got family from there and I’m just over the border in Mid Wales, so love to visit for a few hours. It’s such a beautiful and historic town 🙂
