The Diner, Spitalfields *

You all know I’m an insane burger fan so this post won’t come as a surprise to you.

We were kindly invited to try out the new menu at The Diner so we chose to eat at The Spitalfields as it’s the easiest for us to get home from.  The venue was cool, quirky and felt super American, as it should do being a diner! The staff were very polite and got us seated in a window seat as soon as we had arrived. That always wins bonus points with us, as we love to people watch whilst we wait for our food.

After reading the menu maybe three or four times we came to a decision, it was tough but I think we made the right choices!

To start with we shared the Bacon Jalapeño Tater Tots which came with dipping cheese.

This photo got quite a lot of attention on my Facebook with people asking what they were and where they could get them so I certianly think that The Diner are onto a winner with them.

The taste was great; to start with you could only taste the cheese, bacon and tater but then the jalapeño kicked it for the aftertaste which we really enjoyed.

For mains, Mike did a crazy… he didn’t het a burger, he got chicken!!

But we let him off as it was bloody good; Buttermilk Fried Chicken with chips, slaw, onion rings & bacon gravy was the dream. You can have waffles with it but he opted for chips to stay on the safe side! I think next time the waffles need to be tried.

Right, the burger *drools*…

I went for the hamburger with tomato, pickle, red onion & Diner burger sauce on a sesame bun with Halloumi. There were three types of cheese to pick form but I NEVER say no to Halloumi! I also added caramel onions and bacon as I’m naughty like that.

I then went all out on the chips ordering the Hanger Fries cheese, smoky onions & Diner burger sauce which tasted a hell of a lot like Big Mac, which is a winner for me as the best bit of the Big Mac is the sauce!

The burger was the perfect size, filled with juicy goodness that I was actually quite sad that it came to end but I was so full I couldn’t finish all my chips which is so disappointing for me! We didn’t have space for dessert either, who have we become?!

I will be returning for sure as there is a fair bit more on the new menu such as the blue plate specials like the Meatloaf (that’s 2 bacon wrapped meatloaf slices served with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy, yes please) and Mac and Cheese, along with the full day breakfast, which got me rethinking my daily breakfast choices. I mean the Breakfast Burrito consiting of scrambled eggs, chorizo, pork, black beans, guacamole, salsa & cheese needs to tried!
