2017 Travel Plans

In 2016 I set myself the task of visiting 12 different places and I succeeded! You can see where I headed here. This year I’ve got only a few breaks planned as I’m trying super hard to save more towards our house but here’s what I have planned so far…

This month Mike and I are back off to Bishop’s Castle Barn for 9 days and it’s going to be bliss. Sitting in the hot tub, watching the stars with a glass of wine is my current idea of perfection. It’s our home away from home and we just love spending time there and totally winding down. We hope to get a few Marathon training runs in too!

In April, we have a flying stop in Glasgow for a wedding so we won’t get much sightseeing done but I can check Scotland off my list of places I’ve never been to before! That will finally mean I’ve been to all of the countries that make up the United Kindom… took me long enough!

In July, it looks like I’m heading off on a girlie weekend with my five favourite ladies to some summer sun and lots of wine. We’ve got dates in mind, a few locations and lots of planning to be done! Last year we headed to Marbella for one of their hen dos and decided we should do it yearly!

In September I’m back off to Centre Parcs with about 90 other awesome humans, as I did last year, for some mega fun. Check out the fun we had last year here.

Then, our main holiday of the year… Trek America! I can’t bloody wait!! Some of the highlights include a visit Elvis Presley’s Graceland mansion (I am freaking out about this!!!), a tour of the famous Sun Studio in Memphis, visiting Philadelphia’s ‘Rocky’ steps & Liberty Bell, enjoying the lush Appalachian Mountain scenery, listen to live country, blues and jazz in the Deep South, experience the legendary Bourbon Street in New Orleans and kick back in paradise on Florida’s white sand beaches. We#re also hoping to get to the Kennedy Space Centre as Mike has never been!

I’m sure we will end up doing a few other bits and bobs as we can’t seem to help ourselves!

I love hearing about other people’s travel plans as they often inspire my trips, so I asked 35 of my lovely blogging buddies to share their travel plans, so here’s what they’re up to this year…

Zen from Happiness Wherever – More intra-UK travel to explore UK traditional crafts due to the low pound!!! (And because my blog is about creative living!) Definitely planning to finally visit Rye.

Luisa from Eat Sleep Luisa Repeat – So far my plans are all UK based! I’m going on a fun trip to Elveden Forest Center Parcs with a big group of friends (including you!)  this will be my third Center Parcs trip in as many years! I’m also off to a wedding in Scotland with a couple of friends and plan to make it a properly tourist-y affair when not at the wedding.

Milly from Mini Adventures – I’ve already booked trips to Budapest and Bucharest, and I’ll also be heading out to the States – hopefully, the Deep South! And not forgetting exploring more of the awesome places in my own country too.

Alice from The London Love Letter – Last year I aimed to visit 4 countries and I made it! If I could match or beat that this year I’d be over the moon. First stop – NYC!

Rachel from Beauty and the Bird – I’d love to visit New York as I’ve never been anywhere outside of Europe. New York would be a dream come true!

Eppie from Eppie.Me – I plan on using the most of my weekends to go on more spontaneous trips! And exploring more the UK – I’ve never been to Ireland or Scotland so hope to cross those both off my list this year.

Karis from Shy Strange Manic –  I’m headed on a solo trip to Edinburgh for a weekend in January to brace the cold, beautiful city, then in May I’m spending the weekend with my sister in Krakow, taking in the culture and visiting Auschwitz. In August I am hoping to head to Spain to take part in the legendary (and insane) La Tomatina tomato-throwing festival!

Danielle from Keep it SimpElle – My goal is to visit two new cities a year, so 3-day trips in order to minimise time off work. Anything else will be a bonus but Vancouver, Bali and Croatia are on my wish list too for 2017!

Maria from The Self Improver– I’m getting married in Croatia this year and then travelling for 9 months after that round the world! Can’t wait!

Georgina from Georgina Does – I’d love to travel more than ever before in 2017! I’ve got my first trip booked for this weekend!

Hayley from Break the Loop –  So far in 2017 I have a little mini bloggers trip to Croatia booked in and also a longer stint in Italy and the South of France to get some serious triathlon training done! Other than that, Sri Lanka and Canada are firmly on the wish list!

Hannah from Hannah Talks –  I’m going to Budapest next week and Barcelona on the first weekend of Feb.

Charlotte from With Love, Lottie – So far I’ve got a long weekend booked to Disneyland Paris, a mini cruise to Amsterdam & Antwerp and then heading back to my fave destination Cyprus at the end of year!

Leanne from Broke in the Big Smoke – Bucharest for a girlie weekend, Turkey with the fam and hopefully *fingers crossed* Japan in the Autumn!

Penny from A Penny for Them – I’ve got: Brighton, Bristol, Madrid, Lake Garda and Nottingham so far! Although, if there’s a lottery win, totally adding a few other places to that. Haha!

Jessica from Le Petit Chou – At the moment I’ve got the Isle of Wight in February, The Lake District in March to celebrate our first anniversary and then Kefalonia in the summer to soak up some rays. Would also like an Italian city break in October half term but we’ll see.

Victoria from Florence and Mary – I’m off to St Lucia in March for 10 days, flying first class, staying in an amazing ‘luxury’ villa with a driver, cook and boat on standby! It’s going to be an amazing experience! Then to balance it out I’m off to Disneyland Paris in September with my nieces and nephew!

Lawrence from My Alt Review – I’ve only got Bath or the Lake District in the diary for this year for our first anniversary.

Jodie from A La Jode – I’ve just booked a big trip to Ibiza and also hoping to escape to Malta. And I’m finally fitting in the weekend break I’ve always wanted to do: Dublin! Not the most exotic place but I’m crazy excited.

Yen from Matcha Travelers – I’m going to Norway this year and we’ll hopefully go fishing! I would love to go to Vietnam because it’s part of my home roots, as my parents were born there and I know it’s a beautiful country with loads of delicious food and amazing nature.

Josh from Look Dwn – Off for a break with my girlfriend to Hawaii in May. Trip of a lifetime and visiting two islands – spending a week on Maui and another week on Oahu! Hopefully cramming in a short city break too before the year is out.

Jo from My Monkey’s Don’t Sit Still – We’re going back to Cornwall as it was so fab last year! It’s our 10th Wedding anniversary in June so hubby and I are off to Suffolk for a few nights too!

Helen from Hels Bels –  I love parkrun and tourism and I also lack the finances for big trips abroad at the moment! So a friend and I are planning a girly break to the Isle of Wight to parkrun, for an active break close to home.

Natasha from Dance Flow Lift –  I’m heading to Iceland at the end of January, looking forward to some yoga in the blue lagoon and nights under the stars hoping to spot the Northern Lights.

Poppy from Poppy Mayy – I’m off to India this year for some touring! I can’t wait to see the beautiful sites and experience a completely different culture to my own.

Laura from Fat 2 Fit – I’ve got a holiday in September booked to Mauritius! Rather unfortunately.. my holiday allowance for work was lowered this year so it may be my only trip! Best make it a good one! Hopefully get to walk with Lions over there!

Joana from 100 Things I Love –  I’m heading off to Brazil this February for Carnival. Can’t wait to spend my days on the beach with a Caipirinha in my hand.

Erica from I’m Being Erica – I’m booked for Berlin, Riga, Bucharest, Malta and Lake Bled! WAHOO OOOOOH! hoping to also book Japan and Switzerland too.

Katherine from Girl Running Crazy – Boston in April to see some friends run the marathon and eat all the lobster then France for a boozy Marathon du Medoc!

Charlotte from Memoirs & Musings – Paris at the end of this month but planning Vegas, Venice and Japan (A random mix but so much to explore, eat and enjoy).

Lize from Sewafolie – Morocco on in 2 weeks to visit Casablanca, Marrakech and Essaouira. Albufeira in April for a girlie get away to enjoy the sandy beaches. Nigeria in June to enjoy my culture and collaborate with local artisans for my online boutique.

Jane from Is That You Darling? – No foreign holidays for me this year (I don’t think), as I’m saving for 2018. But I’m hoping to head to Bath, Dorset and Yorkshire at some point!

Helen from 1 Vision 2 Girls – Dubai in 3 weeks time for a half ironman and then Japan at the end of Feb for the Tokyo marathon!!! Lots of travelling for events! But fab cities to visit at the same time!

Zoe from Life in Lustre – I’m looking forward to a few days in NYC in April and then a bit of sun in Espana in August! Maybe with a little trip to Budapest thrown in somewhere too!

Natasha from Travel Addict – China in May, Slovenia in June, Spain in September, Cape Verde in November and France in December – that is why I am known as Travel Addict!

Louise from Louise Rose Railton – I’m heading to Disney Land Paris with my blogging best friend in 2017!

Has this helped inspire any of your travel ideas for this year?
