Calling the ibis Hotel on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile Home for the Weekend *

If you read my blog often, you will know that we are big fans of the ibis hotel chain. So far this year I’ve stayed in one in Leeds, Amsterdam, Edinburgh and we have a room booked in Luxembourg in a few weeks time! But in this post, I’m going to be chatting about our stay in Edinburgh on the Royal Mile.

One of the main reasons, well there’s actually quite a few, we always chose to stay in an ibis is because you know exactly what you’re going to get from them. That being a clean room, a proper decent room and just about everything you need without breaking the bank. Another reason is the insanely good locations;  you’re right in the centre of town, right by that airport or in the perfect place to hop on a bus or train across the country.

Oh, and I forgot another reason why the ibis is a total winner for us…

The ibis breakfast is by far the best way to start the day. There’s everything you could want in front of you; bowls of fruit, yogurt with almost everything you can put it with, cereal and milk, plenty of pastries, bread for toast, rolls, an egg boiling station, machines for tea, coffee, and juice, but of course…

I always help myself to the hot food buffet. I rarely have a hot breakfast so when I’m away I like to treat myself! I always have toast with beans and scrambled eggs, but if I’m feeling really treat worthy, or just extra hungry then I go in for some bacon and sausage too. I’ve found the bacon to always have the right amount of crispiness and the sausages are great quality as they can often be hit or miss!

After a long day, you know you get good value for money in the ibis bar so we’re not adverse to stopping for a glass or two of wine before bed!

The ibis on Royal Mile was no exception to the amazing service we have grown to love at the ibis. The staff are always happy, helpful and nothing is too much for them, no matter the time of day as the reception truly is 24hrs. The location was exactly what we needed; it was a short 10 minutes walk, if that, from the bus stop that the airport bus drops you off at, you can walk to nearly every tourist attraction that you can think of and there’s so many restaurants nearby that you can have an easy stroll home after a long day exploring.

The sweet beds in the ibis pretty much guarantee a great night sleeps and this was what happened when we stayed in Edinburgh. If I could own my own sweet bed then I 100% would!

I can’t recommend the ibis enough as we just love it! I’m sure you can tell from all the bookings we have made this year and we are looking into more staycations with ibis for later on in the year too! We love the warm welcomes, the amazing food and those sweet, sweet beds!
