London Living with an Alternative Twist!

One Dress, Five Ways for Nearly All Occasions! *

When it comes to mixing and matching outfits, I like to think I’m a bit of a pro! I have a few staple items in my wardrobe that I can mix up with accessories to take the outfit from weekend fun, to work and all the way through do a decent dinner up town! My LBD is from Primark and was £13 a couple of years back and it’s been washed time and time again but shockingly it’s still doing really well. I’ve worn it to interviews, girls nights outs, work and even just day to day casual. It’s just one of those dresses that’s really versitile. I do have my eye on a new black dress though as I think it’s about time I upgraded.

Today I’m gonna chat through how I use my trusty little black dress to cover all kinds of events, except weddings, it’s nowhere near classy enough for that!

Weekend Fun

We all know I’m a little bit gothic with my style from time to time so I teamed my little black dress with these amazing Leg Avenue Opaque Spine Column Tights and I love how cool they look! If you’re not into the darker side of dressing like I am, then these would be great for halloween costumes too. The front are totally plain so from face on they look like normal tights which I really like, it’s a totally business in the front and party in the back! I teamed with my Dr Martens to give the outfit a chunky finish.

Posh Dinner

Sometimes, say after work for example, you need to take your daytime outfit up a notch to hit that new swanky restaurant in town and a quick tight and shoe swap can really up your game. I’ve been coveting the What Katie Did Seamed Tights with Black Polka Dots for quite some time and I am so glad I got my hands on them as they really do dress up the dress up the simplest of dresses.–However, suppose you need to go somewhere fancier, and you want to look even more unique. In that case, you may want to find a designer piece that will make you the center of attention. You can click here to see a lot of amazing options.

Just look at the detail; those seams and polka dot are what my tight dreams were made of! I paired the tights with my New Look Red Bow Heels to dress up my outfit that little bit more.

Work Casual

For something a little more fun at work, I chose the Oroblu Cloe Fashion Tights in Marine Blue. I know you’re not meant to wear blue and black together, but rules schmules, who cares?! I loved the polka dots and didn’t want just plain black all the time. I think it gives a fun side to a work outfit. I’d team these with my Dr Martens again or my Jeffery Campbell Platform Plimsolls, which you can get similar here.

Chilled Dinner with Friends

My friends all have pretty awesome styles so I think they would 100% appreciate that I’ve matched my tights to my hair! These super cool tights are from Pretty Polly and at 60 Denier they are perfect for winter. The colour is called Girl in Green and I teamed them with my chunky heeled boots to dress up the outfit just a little but I’m still comfortable.

Work Drinks

My last outfit is something I’d wear for work drinks when wanting to put in a little more effort. I’ve teamed the Silky Smooth Knit Seamer Tights in Black with Black Seams with my oldie, but goodie, low chunky heels (similar here). I’d also use these tights with my 1950s style dresses for more dressy occasions as I find they are so versatile and really soft to wear.

Do you have a staple that you style in different ways?
