5 Waterside Properties to Swoon Over in the Lake District

This is a collaborative post.

As you may already know, we are huge fans of staycations and travel around as often as we can. We want to be able to see as much of the beauty that the UK has to offer as possible, one weekend at a time. Some destinations are a one-time thing whereas certain locations somehow manage to draw us in and pull us back year after year. One of those places just happens to be the Lake District.

The Lakes have so much to offer, with stunning views and Instagrammable landscapes in abundance. Not only this, but there’s something pretty tranquil about the peace of the lakes and being surrounded by natural beauties like Lake Windermere and the gentle surrounding rolling hills. With picturesque villages, pub lunches and quaint afternoon teas, the Lakes feel a million miles away from city life and are oh so enjoyable whatever time of year you visit.

To enjoy the Lake District to the full, it’s an absolute must to rent a holiday cottage on the water itself, can you honestly imagine a better way to start your day than by lazing by a lake with a cup of tea in hand? With that in mind, here are five waterside properties to swoon over:

Lakeside at Louper Weir

I’m starting with the big guns here; this property is an absolute gem and has everything you could dream of when it comes to holidaying in the UK. If Insta-worthy home shots are your thing, then this is definitely the property to beat. The bedroom comes complete with a set of bi-folding doors that open up to reveal a balcony, looking over the stunning Lake Windermere. But not only this, this particular property also has an outdoor hot tub and outdoor cooking space, the ultimate indulgence in staycations.

Windermere Lodge

Nestled on the shores of Lake Windermere, this country-chic lodge is set within a fantastic community, perfect for if you’re looking for all of your necessary amenities in one place. The site comes complete with a bar and restaurant, a deli and shop, games area and boat launching spot, so there’s something for everyone. The property itself, one of the most sought-after Lake District Log Cabins, is super cute and has an outdoor wrap around decking, perfect for soaking up that lakeside atmosphere.

Wykefield

This property is positioned within a cobbled courtyard and is the perfect base for exploring. Within walking distance of a cosy pub and Beatrix Potter’s old farmhouse, this property is surrounded by culture, and of course the lake itself. If bathrooms are your thing, this one has an absolute cracker. With patterned tiled flooring and a stunning free-standing bath, this cottage would be the perfect place for relaxing and enjoying a little me-time.

Tent Lodge

If privacy is your thing, then Tent Lodge is an absolute dream. Described as one of the Lake Districts “best kept secrets” this huge property that sleeps 12 people is seriously impressive. The décor is grand, and the panoramic views are seriously impressive, making this the perfect location for a group holiday. Or even a special occasion like a birthday trip. The views of the lake are also pretty beautiful and can be seen from rooms including the dining space, kitchen and bedrooms.

Waternook Estate in the Lake District

Potentially saving the best til last, the Waternook Estate is the ultimate in 5-star luxury and is just seriously ridiculously beautiful. Set in a huge 26 acres of private land, with half a mile of lake shoreline and everything from an outdoor hot tub to a helipad and a bar, this place is up there with the kind of properties that only the hottest of celebrities would be seen in. The indoor cinema is also a highlight, but best of all this place is super pet-friendly. Even the dogs deserve to enjoy that little piece of luxury.
