The Deeper Meaning: 5 Things Your Fashion Choices Are Saying About You

A person’s clothing does much more than keep the body covered. It also provides information about a person’s personality, lifestyle, employment, and more. Individuals often don’t take this into consideration when getting dressed each morning, but maybe they need to. What message are you sending when you get dressed each day? Your clothing choices can provide this information.

The Basics

Men and women who typically wear classic outfits, such as the little black dress, project a positive image. They know what endures and how to make the most of it. Furthermore, these pieces can be worn again and again with ease and never go out of style. This shows the person is concerned about how they spend money and they are likely in a job where this type of image is rewarded. For example, tunics have gone in and out of fashion for centuries now, and it’s easy to see why. This top is very versatile and can be worn in a variety of ways. Designer Clothing

People of all ages often dress from head to toe in designer clothing. They do so because they believe their worth is defined by their possessions, and they need to demonstrate their wealth in this way to be treated fairly. Avoid doing so and choose clothes with no designer tag to see how others respond. Many are surprised to learn others don’t care what they are wearing. They like them for who they are, not what they own.

Oversized Clothing

Certain people tend to wear clothes that are obviously too big for their figure. They do so because they don’t have an accurate body image or they wish to hide one or more flaws, whether these flaws are real or perceived. For example, a person who has lost a great deal of weight may continue to buy clothing in their old size because they haven’t accepted they are smaller now. A friend can be of great help in overcoming this problem by encouraging the individual to choose items in the appropriate size.

Old Clothes

Individuals who keep every piece of clothing they have ever purchased tend to be very sentimental and cling to the past. It’s best to sort through the closet and remove everything that is ripped, torn, outdated, too big, or too small. If parting with these articles of clothing is simply too difficult, try to find a way to capture the memories or use them in another way. For example, take a picture of yourself in each article of clothing and keep that instead or have a memorial quilt created using scraps from each item.

Neutrals

Men and women who have a closet full of clothing in neutral colours may lack the confidence to branch out and wear items in brighter shades. The same is true of those men and women who avoid wearing any accessories or stick to the bare minimum. Furthermore, these individuals often wish to avoid drawing attention and choose these shades in an effort to avoid doing so.

The best way to overcome this is to add one or two accessories or buy one item in a bright color that you love. Wear it often and see how it changes the way others react. This may be enough to pull the individual out of a rut and encourage them to try new things.

Evaluate your wardrobe and see what it says about you. It may be time to make some changes. This doesn’t mean everything in the closet has to go, however. Try one or two new items to see how they feel. Once you do so, you may find other changes need to be made as well to allow you to project the image you desire.
