Preparing Your Wardrobe For Autumn And Winter *

*This is a collaborative post.

Now that summer is officially over for another year, it is a great chance for us to update our wardrobe for autumn and winter. The colder months of the year are always a fun time for fashion, and we can have fun layering up and wearing new and edgy designs.

Today we are going to take a deeper look at some of the best ways to prepare to usher in the autumn in your closet.

Clean Out Your Wardrobe

The first thing you want to do when preparing for a new fashion season is to have a clear out of your old things. It is always best to clear out your wardrobe before you start buying new items because it will prevent you from cluttering your home. Take a look through your old autumn and winter items and decide what you want to keep and what you want to throw away. Don’t be too sentimental with fashion choices as this will prevent you from being able to try new things.

Know What You Have

Before you start shopping online or in-store, it is incredibly important for you to take stock of what you have. Using an app such as StyleBook can be a great idea because you’ll be able to record the items you have and use them to create outfits and combinations. Sometimes you will be surprised at what you already have and these can be used in new and fun ways. Knowing what you already have is also important because it will ensure that you don’t double up on clothing when you hit the store.

Take Inspiration

If you want to change your style for the new season, it is a great idea to use Pinterest and Instagram for inspiration. It can be hard coming up with outfit ideas on your own, and this is why you should consider scrolling through images of others to get some ideas. Once you have a few ideas for outfits, you can use these to find the ideal products to add to your wardrobe.

Assess Your Lifestyle

Lifestyle is an important thing to consider when you are looking to change your style. For example, if you are working in an office all week, you’ll want to largely pick items that are office-friendly and can be worn as a formal and informal item. Also, when looking for clothing such as sportswear, be sure it fits you and your style of fitness, and beware of many counterfeit sportswear brands that may try to trick you. If you spend a lot of time walking to and from places, heels might not be a top priority on your list.

Stick To A Colour Theme

When trying to prepare for a new fashion season, it is all too easy to get carried away with many different items. This is why it is important for you to choose a colour theme and stick to it. Autumn is a great season to try bold jewel colours like red, green, and purple; so if you want to focus on red for example you will want to choose items that complement this colour. This way, whenever you get dressed you will have clothes that go together effortlessly.
