Improving Your Homes Kerb Appeal Now *

*This is a collaborative post.

When it comes to your home, often the first impressions can be the ones that last. But yet, many of us still tend to focus our time and energy on improving the interior look. While this is an important part of your home, and the part you spend the most time in, it is also important for you to ensure that your homes exterior appearance matches up. Winter isn’t always the most ideal time to be outside, but it can be an excellent time to make improvements to your homes kerb appeal. With that in mind, here are some of the things that you can do.

Make improvements to the driveway or garage

For some people, a big part of the exterior of their home is a driveway or a garage. Perhaps in some cases both. But while these are big areas of your home, they can be unsightly if improvements haven’t been made for some time. This is when you may want to look at options that you have. It could be investing in the concrete side of things and for your garage, a seamless flooring for advanced protection might be an option. It could be your driveway needs resurfacing with concrete, tarmac or any other product that you may like the look of. Now is a great time to get these big jobs done.

Focus on the doors and windows

Another big part of the exterior of the home is your windows and your doors, and this can be a huge area to cover and might be letting your home down. It could be that they look tired and worn, maybe you haven’t replaced them in a while. Some homes have wooden frames that can rot over time, or don’t have double glazing which can be less energy efficient. Replacing the windows and doors, or even just cleaning up the ones you have can make a big difference in how your home looks.

Tidy up any debris

Sometimes it is the small things that can have the biggest impact, and tidying up any debris that has fallen from bushes, plants and trees can help your exterior to look cleaner and tidier. This time of year means the leaves drop off the trees and that can make the exterior of a home look messy. Cleaning them away could make a world of difference.

Clear out gutters and tackle paintwork

There are often jobs on the list that you may have been putting off for some time, and these can have much to do with the exterior of your home. For example, cleaning out the gutters or tackling any paintwork. Giving these areas of your home a refresh could help the exterior of your home look much more presentable. Again the winter is the ideal time to get these things done and ready for the summer months ahead.

Spend some time on garden areas

Finally, you may want to spend a little time sprucing up the lawn areas or any flower beds that you have. Cleaning them now makes way for you to enjoy the garden come spring and plant some new flowers that will enhance the way your project looks.

Let’s hope these tips help you to improve your home kerb appeal.
