A Peace Of Mind In Uncertain Times – Is It Possible? *

*This is a collaborative post.

The future looks uncertain right now, and many are desperately trying to find peace of mind amidst everything going on. While there is a lot of negativity in the world right now and things happening that could impact our lives in a big way, this doesn’t mean we can’t find peace of mind.

Peace of mind doesn’t mean walking around like a smiling buddha statue or making light of the situation, necessarily. It simply means accepting what is and finding ways to move forward.

The Future Was Always Uncertain

The first thing to know is that the future was always uncertain. Anything can happen at any time. Nothing is a given. It always will be uncertain, even after this. We can’t predict what is going to happen, and we shouldn’t feel the need to.

Learn To Accept Your Emotions And Feel Them

This is a time that could potentially inspire growth in many people. When people can’t turn to distractions like parties, friends, and public houses and clubs, they are forced to face themselves and the difficult emotions they carry. Some people won’t like what they discover, but this is why it’s important. Feeling your emotions, accepting them, and working through them steadily will help you to grow as a person.

Try Meditation

Meditation is not about stopping your thoughts, but about going inwards and finding stillness. It can sound difficult when you haven’t tried it before, but you can meditate with yoga so that you’re not just sitting there quietly like a monk. However you do it, it will benefit your life. Meditation can offer more clarity, creativity, and a deeper connection with yourself, others, and the world.

Start Journaling

Journaling can be a great outlet for your thoughts and feelings. You may not want to write the truth down, because then you have to face it. However, doing this is a great step in the right direction. Journaling is a great habit for those who want to understand themselves better, and even those who want to improve their creativity and intuition. You can write out entries however you like, but freewriting can be the perfect way to get everything out of your head and onto the page.

Check-In With Those You Love More Often

Times like this can make us realize that although we may be connected in terms of Facebook and Twitter, we’re not really connecting with one another. Check in with those you love more by calling them – even Skyping them! You could even make a hot drink at the same time and enjoy it together, or, if you want to take it a step further, make the same meal and eat it while you catch up.

Prioritize A Routine

Staying in a routine can be tough, but doing your best to keep this up will help you to feel better. Get up, get dressed, brush your teeth, and eat breakfast. When you’ve done that, you’ve already won the day.

Give Yourself Permission To Just Be

You do not need to use this time to ‘glow up’, get into the best shape of your life, or write a novel. It’s a global pandemic. It’s absolutely fine to just exist for a little while!
