Five Ways to Have Fun with Your Pet This Holiday Season *

*This is on a collaborative post.

The holiday season is fast approaching and with COVID-19 still a threat, many people are going to spend more time indoors with immediate family and lovable pets. During the lockdown, pets were amazing companions and kept us entertained in one way or the other. It is time to return the favour by giving them extra love and attention during the holidays. Here are five ways to have fun with your pet this holiday season.

Homemade Treats

We all indulge in one way or another during the holiday season, but food is usually close to the top of that list. The kitchen gets busy as people finally try their hands-on recipes and delicacies that they have been waiting to try the whole year. This time around, make some treats for your pet. There are several recipes you can find online to make treats for your pets. If you own a dog though, beware of ingredients that do not constitute healthy dog food, so that you’re not putting their health at risk.

Play Pet Dress-Up

It is common for people to put on their favourite dresses or costumes to celebrate the holiday season. Get your pet in on the act and play dress-up together. A high number of pet stores have a good stock of costumes for different animals. Not only would you have fun, but the costume could also keep your pet warm. But make sure whatever outfit you get doesn’t pose a choking threat. Be sure to document your experience by taking a picture together, and if possible, with Santa.

Pet Presents

We all get gifts during the holiday season, so why should your pet be left out? A fun way to spend time with your pet is to take them shopping. Fortunately, it is pretty easy to shop for animals. All you need to do is visit a local pet store and pick out some stuff for them.

Extended Playtime

The holiday season means more time to spend at home, and having extra time on your hands can translate into extended playtime with your pet. It is excellent for them since they get to have fun as well as some exercise. Make this one of your top priorities this holiday season and enjoy bonding sessions with your pet.

Make paw ornaments

The holiday season is an excellent time to try out that DIY hack you saved but never got the time to execute. One of such is paw ornaments which will be a fantastic addition to your holiday tree. They are pretty easy to create, but the process can get a little messy as you will be having so much fun with your dog. Just make a simple dough with flour, salt, and water. Out of that, cut out a circle and press the paw of your pet into it to make a good imprint. Then make a small hole at the top when you are done. Bake it, let it cool, and then decorate it as you see fit. Now string a ribbon through the small hole you made earlier at the top and hang it.
