4 Tips For Creating a More Relaxing Bedroom *

*Collaborative Post.

If we’re going to be at our brilliant best during the day, then it’s important that we’re getting plenty of rest at night. We all know just how much better we feel when we’ve had a solid night of sleep, rather than a night of tossing and turning. Of course, there will always be some nights when we just struggle to fall asleep. However, broadly speaking, we should be resting well.

While there are many things that’ll contribute to a restless night, one of the most influential elements is the bedroom. If that’s not conducive to rest, then you’re going to struggle.

In this blog, we’re going to run through some useful tips for creating a bedroom that’s ideal for sleeping.

Keep it Tidy

A little bit of tidying effort can go a long way. There’s just something soothing about entering a bedroom that is neat and orderly, rather than a bedroom where there’s trash and clothes everywhere. Even something as basic as making the bed can make a big difference. So try to spend a few minutes each morning getting your bed into order. It’s one of those small things that doesn’t sound like it’ll make a difference, but it actually can.

Reduce Clutter

Our minds reflect our surroundings. If you’re surrounded by clutter, then your mind will find it difficult to reach the level of calm needed to fall asleep. You might manage eventually, but you’ll likely have gotten there more quickly had the environment been calm and orderly. There are many reasons why minimalism has taken off in recent years, including the sleep benefits that it brings. Of course, it’s not as if you can clear everything out of your bedroom. But what you can do is invest in some smart storage solutions, such as an ottoman bed frame, so the items don’t have to be on display all the time. A clear space equals a clear mind, and a clear mind is one that’s ready for sleep.

Upgrade Your Linens

Of course, you could create the perfect environment for sleeping, but if your bedding isn’t up to scratch, then you’ll have difficulty. Given that you’re going to spend a lot of time in bed, it’s worthwhile investing in the best of the best. People are often surprised at just how big an impact their linens can have on their enjoyment of their bed — it can be profound. You might just find that bed becomes your favorite place!

Tech Free

Finally, look at making your bedroom a tech free place. Studies have shown that using technology before bedtime can have a significant impact on a person’s inability to sleep. Wouldn’t it be nice to have one place on the planet where screens and the internet and so forth just don’t exist? When you enter your bedroom, you’ll know that you’re in a place where you can do nothing but simply lie back and let your mind wander, without the threat of interruption. It can feel odd, but it’s recommended!
