The 5 Best Nutritional “Bangs for Your Buck

*Collaborative Post

There are so many healthy foods out there it can be tough to find the right ones. The modern world involves getting to the crux of something instantly- we need the healthiest foods known to man, and we need them now. So if you are trying to overhaul your diet and you need a cheat sheet of the most nutritious foods out there, look no further.

Let’s show you the most nutrient-dense foods out there that give you the best bang for your buck.

Salmon

Salmon and fatty fishes contain the most Omega-3 fatty acids, which have been linked to a lower risk of serious diseases and can improve your sense of well-being if you consume enough. A lot of fish contains Omega-3, and shellfish is a fantastic low-calorie version that contains almost as much. You could find Cornish shellfish by FFT and many other suppliers. It’s also important to remember that fish contains a wide variety of other nutrients, including vitamins and minerals like magnesium, selenium, and protein.

Garlic

Garlic is the secret ingredient you should have in your kitchen. Don’t worry about how it makes your breath smell, the fact is that garlic is incredibly nutritious! Studies suggest that garlic may lower your bad cholesterol and blood pressure, as well as being high in vitamins B6, B12, and C. In addition, there are traces of selenium, potassium, copper, and calcium. If you want a reason to consume more garlic, this is it!

Potatoes

Potatoes are a staple that we can easily neglect, but potatoes contain a lot of B vitamins, vitamin C, and are high in potassium. There is a reason why many people live off potatoes! The great thing about potatoes is that they are also incredibly filling. If you are looking for a quick meal, you can have chicken and potatoes to give your body what it needs. It’s important to remember that a lot of the nutrients are in the skin. If you just go for mashed potato, you would be consuming starch and very little else. If you don’t like the skin, take it off and cook it in olive oil so it will crisp up and you can sprinkle it into your mashed potatoes. Delicious!

Olive Oil

Let’s remember that fat is not the enemy anymore. Oils like olive oil, coconut oil, and ghee are nutritional powerhouses of their own. Olive oil contains monounsaturated fats and is the main reason why the Mediterranean diet is so good for you. Make sure that you consume extra virgin olive oil and drizzle it over your vegetables. If you consume the right fats, you are going to feel far more satisfied.

Fermented Foods

Finally, fermented foods and probiotics are being touted as the missing ingredient of the healthy gut. Sources like sauerkraut, kimchi, and kefir are all essential if you want to get more probiotics into your life.

These are the foods that give you the best bang for your back, so if you’re looking to be more nutritious, you wouldn’t go far wrong with any of these!
