5 Reasons Why I would Love To Get Married Abroad!*

I may not be anywhere near getting engaged yet, but I am a real wedding lover. Weddings are just so beautiful; the flowers, the dress, the decorations, I love it all. Anyway, I have been thinking about weddings a lot recently, and how amazing it would be to get married in a foreign land. Preferably, somewhere nice and sunny.

A couple of years ago, my cousin got married in Cyprus, and it was the most beautiful day. Perhaps that is where my idea of getting married abroad stems from? For me, there are many reasons to get married abroad. The main one, however, is the incredible setting.

The beautiful setting aside, there are also many other reasons I would love to say my vows abroad. If you are considering getting married abroad, make sure to check out the five reasons below, why I think it’s a fantastic option.

The weather

In the UK, it rains a large percentage of the year, which is why I would love to get married somewhere sunny. Even if you choose to get married in the summer, nice weather is never a definite here.

I don’t know about you, but when it comes to my big day, I’m just not willing to risk rain. It’s not just the fact that I don’t want my hair or makeup to get ruined; I also don’t like the idea of dreary-looking pictures.

Just close friends and family

I am the type of person who has a close-knit group of friends and family. So I wouldn’t mind just having all my closest friends and family at my wedding. That’s the thing about getting married abroad; you can’t invite everyone.

To me, this is ideal, as I love the idea of an intimate wedding. However, if you are part of a larger family or friendship group, it may not be the best option for you.

The destination

As I mentioned above, for me, the backdrop of where I get married is a big deal. It’s not just about the beautiful scenery, but also about the fact that it would make my celebrations unique.

There are some amazing destinations to choose from, but once place that is set apart from the rest is Switzerland. While lots of couples opt for beach weddings in Hawaii or Barbados, for me, weddings in Switzerland are more appealing.

Get married any time of year

A major bonus of getting married abroad is that, depending on the destination, you can get married at any time of year. Even though the UK becomes much colder once autumn hits, there are plenty of places across the world that stay warm.

For me, the idea of being able to choose any date in the year, without having to stress about the weather is a big bonus.

New experience

I am the type of person that loves creating new experiences, so for me, tieing the knot abroad would be ideal. Even if you choose to marry in an area that you have visited before, you still have the opportunity to explore it.
