If you’ve been reading this blog for a while now, then you’ll know I like baking. I may be really bad at it, but I try and I really enjoy doing it! I thought I’d go a little festive and bake some really nice red velvet cakes to take into work.
The lovely team from Debenhams sent over a few lovely Christmas items to get me well on my way…
These are all from the Ashley Thomas home range and I love them! I actually sent them round to my parents after using them so Mum & I can make use of them on Christmas day when we have the family over.
Ashley Thomas joined the ‘Designers at Debenhams’ family back in 2011 after having worked with the likes of Mama & Papas and Laura Ashley. In 2012 the At Home with Ashley Thomas range was launched and the fabrics are stunning.
I donned my awesome apron, sorry guys, no photos of me looking fetching it in, I had my PJs on underneath as it was a lazy day!
I grabbed all of my ingredients and got baking.
When I bake I am so messy. The kitchen always looks like a bomb has hit it and I always hate the tidying up but if you want to have the fun then it’s got to be done!
I used my tins to store the cakes whilst they were cooling as I made around 40 of them in all different sizes.
I then softened some buttercream icing and got even more messy!
I tried piping my icing for the first time, and I’m secretly really happy with how they came out!
I do need a lot of practice but the people in my office were really impressed.
I even popped a few choccy coins in to be super festive with a few choccy sprinkles too!
The tins were a great help in transporting the cakes to work too as it meant they didn’t get bashed about or ruined. They turned up looking all cute and won the office over.
I can’t wait to get the festive tea towels on show at my parents this Christmas, and to serve our dinner in my lovely new apron!
