When it comes to keeping the flat clean, I am all over it. I spend a good few hours each week cleaning all of the rooms, making sure everything is put away and all of the clothes we’ve worn the week before are washed and put away. I can whizz around the bedrooms, spruce up the kitchen and now we have a new washing machine on the way, I will be able to do my washing a hell of a lot quicker, but then there are the bathrooms. Our family bathroom and ensuite are the rooms I hate dealing with the most, but there are so many ways to keep your bathroom in tip-top condition that I’m going to share with you today.
Cleaning your bathroom may be a normal job but there are so many things that tend to get overlooked when doing your weekly clean. These hard-to-reach places tend to be beneath your bathroom fittings, the underside of taps, your sink, bath and shower plug holes and the plugs themselves.
To get the best results and not have to fork out a small fortune on cleaning products an all-purpose bathroom-cleaning product will do the job very well. It’s also great for use during a longer deep clean too.
As your bathroom deals with a lot of moisture daily, you really do need to make sure your bathroom is well ventilated. If you let your bathroom get damp then mould can set in which will lead to a whole series of problems.
When cleaning your bathroom you should check for damp patches as these could be the start of leaks in hard-to-reach places that you may not spot easily. Also, keep an eye on your fittings as leaks can often start there.
Many leaks are a quick fix and may be sorted out by a plumber, like those listed on Rated People, with very little work.
Shower doors need to be kept a check on as if the seals become damaged it can lead to leaks. Also, the glass should be kept clean to be able to see any scratches or breakages. I also use the likes of WD-40 to keep the door hinges moving smoothly.
To keep your door clean in between your weekly cleans, pick up one of the rubber glass cleaners to wipe away excess water after each shower.
Bathroom cleaning is by far, for me, the worst of the household tasks I have to do around the flat, but it’s something that really needs to be done as it can save so much money in the long run.
