Working from home is anything but fiery at the moment! A new national lockdown means the UK is back to the restrictions that were introduced in March of 2020. Therefore, you have probably found yourself in a position where you can’t go into the office. As a result, things might feel a little stale at times, and it’s not as if you can go for a drink or have dinner after work.
With another month before things could return to normal, it’s imperative to spice up your work routine to prevent everyday life from becoming a grind. If you don’t know where to start, here are some fantastic pointers you can use as inspiration.
You’re sort of stuck inside with nowhere to go, and that makes switching up your location challenging. However, it isn’t impossible. The backyard or garden is ideal if you have a heater and a comfortable outdoor working space. Of course, if the weather is too nippy, you can always swap the home office for the living room, bedroom, or kitchen. Speak to your partner and kids about mixing up workspaces and the boundaries to add an element of novelty to your otherwise predictable day.
The last thing you want to do is wear an uncomfortable dress when you’re working remotely. All anyone can see is the top half of your body, so that’s the only half that matters. Leggings, therefore, are recommended as they are comfy, making you more productive. Yet, there’s no need to wear the same black, pattern-less style every day. Instead, you can opt for snakeskin leggings or leggings of a different colour. Although it’s a little alteration, it’s incredible how much your mind will recognise the change and improve your mood as a result!
The problem with working from home is that you become too familiar with your home. Rather than being your castle, it transforms into a prison cell you aren’t allowed to leave. But, you are allowed to go outside with a reasonable excuse, and there’s none better than exercise. Don’t worry because you don’t have to go for a 10k jog, although you can if you like. Walking is perfectly acceptable since it’s low-intensity and burns fat. Not only that but breathing fresh air into your lungs will give you a new lease of life, something you’ll need to finish the day with a bang.
One benefit of working remotely is the extra time you get for breaks. It’s not difficult to cook a proper meal when you only have to go from the office to the kitchen, and you have an hour until you must log back on. Therefore, it makes sense to be more exotic while keeping it light. For instance, a stir-fry is full of vegetables and takes less than five minutes to cook. The energy will fuel you on, as will the idea of substituting a sandwich for a nice meal!
With weeks left before lockdown ends, how will you stop your home routine from getting dull?
