London Living with an Alternative Twist!

Super Fun Nights Out In London*

London is very generous with its night time entertainment and no matter what kind of evening I’m in the mood for, the city always delivers. From folk to funk, roof top to underground there is something to suit every taste under the sun. Looking for something super fun to do tonight? Here are some of my recommendations for awesome nights out in the capital city.

Sip a cocktail in the clouds

London is full of sky-high restaurants and bars. In the summer months, these venues are bursting at the seams with merry makers dressed in summer wear, sipping on mai tais and mojitos. You should be aware that drinking with a view of London comes at a cost. Many rooftop bars charge an arm and a leg for a drink so make sure you check the prices before heading up.

If you want a luxurious experience or you are celebrating a special occasion, I would recommend the Radio Rooftop Bar at the top of the ME London Hotel. I was treated to a drink here recently, and it truly was an elegant and plush experience. The views are incredible as are the colourful, delicious cocktails decorated with real flowers. To top it all off, the outdoor lounge has some of the most comfortable sofas I’ve ever sat on! It’s a very popular place so do book well in advance of your planned night out.

However, if you want a more laid-back evening, head to Frank’s Cafe in Peckham. At the top of a multi-storey, it doesn’t sound like the most appealing venue but trust me, it’s worth the climb. The panoramic views from the top, especially at sunset, are breathtaking. Enjoy the scenery while sipping on one of the great beers on tap or a cocktail from their extensive menu.

Dress up for a themed night out

It may sound a bit tacky, but don’t be put off just yet. My friend really wanted to do something a little different for her birthday last year, so she decided on a themed night out. At first I was sceptical but I must admit, we all had a whale of a time. We all donned costumes from Party Domain and headed to Cirque Le Soir in the centre of the city. Full of circus acts, clowns, burlesque dancers and fire eaters it really makes for an exciting night out.

There are loads of other options for themed nights out that will suit any preference. Creep down the stairs into Nightjar, and you’ll find yourself in a 1920s speakeasy with prohibition-themed cocktails and live jazz and swing music. For a more funky evening, head to the aptly named Disco in Soho. This club is full of 70s memorabilia, and there are disco balls aplenty. A perfect location to dance the night away!
