Four Scrumptious Must-Try Brunch Recipes to Wow Your Guests

*This is a collaborative post.

Breakfast is too early. Lunch seems too formal. So that brings us to brunch. The happy in between when you can devour delicious breakfast along with bottomless mimosas, bar any judgement of course.

Cooking for a brunch party is a tad more tricky than say, cooking for a potluck. Fortunately, most breakfast foods don’t require gourmet-level culinary skills. When it comes to cooking, many people overlook the quality of the ingredients. Superior quality ingredients have a higher nutritional value and taste much better. So, make an effort to purchase fresh and organic produce and products. Naturally Best Fresh is a trusted supplier of fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, dairy products and more.

In this post, we’ve put together some brunch recipes that are easy yet impressive. Let’s get started, shall we?

Savoury Bacon Twists (Serves 4)

A fool-proof recipe to get your guests started. Savoury Bacon Twists are, well for lack of a better word, a twist on the traditional breadbasket.

Ingredients

1 sheet of Puff Pastry
3 tbsp Herb Butter
12 Bacon Strips (or veggie alternatives)
½ cup Cheddar Cheese (grated)

Method

  1. Start by unwrapping the puff pastry on a flat surface. Using a brush spread herb butter on one side. Now, evenly sprinkle grated cheese on it and use a rolling pin to roll it out. The cheese should perfectly stick to the pastry.
  2. Next, use a sharp knife to cut 12 even strips.
  3. Place bacon strip on each piece of pastry. Pinch together the top and bottom and twist it a few times until it stays together.
  4. Place the twists on a sheet pan with a wire rack.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Place pan in the oven and bake for 15 minutes or until crispy.

Serve hot!

Grapefruit, Avocado and Walnut Salad (Serves 4)

Most brunch foods end up being heavier on either the sweet or savoury side. You can prepare this salad to add some freshness and balance out a rich menu. Also, it’s vegan!

Ingredients

1 medium Grapefruit
4 tbsp Walnuts (toasted and chopped)
2 Avocados (chopped)
2 tbsp Olive Oil
½ tsp Caster Sugar
⅛ tsp Apple Cider Vinegar
Salt and Pepper to taste

Method

  1. Carefully peel and separate grapefruit from its membrane. Keep it aside and discard membrane.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, sugar, salt, pepper and apple cider vinegar.
  3. For each serving, place a portion of grapefruit with a tablespoon of walnut and avocado with the dressing drizzled on top.

Buttermilk Sheet Pancakes (Serves 4)

Any brunch is incomplete without pancakes. Making a traditional batch requires time and effort. But this recipe doesn’t! It’s so simple yet incredibly delicious.

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 large egg
¾ cup buttermilk
2 tbsp butter (melted)
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking powder
2 tsp vanilla essence
1 tsp sugar
½ tsp salt

For toppings

2 cups strawberries (chopped in quarters)
½ cup chocolate chips
2 tbsp powdered sugar

Method

  1. Whisk together all the dry ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Combine buttermilk, eggs, butter and vanilla essence in a separate bowl.
  3. Now, slowly incorporate wet ingredients into the dry mixture.
  4. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and grease it with butter or cooking spray.
  5. Pour the batter in the sheet pan and top with strawberries and chocolate chips.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes at 370 degrees Fahrenheit, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Serve with powdered sugar, honey, maple syrup, Nutella or any other condiments of your choice.
