The lovely team over at Money Supermarket are running a superb competition so I though I’d give it a go! You have to put a BBQ for friends or family only using the £50 they send you, mission accepted. There was 6 of us in total and plenty food left over for lunch the next day! We decided to shop in Aldi as this would be best value for money.
Here’s all that we bought:
We shopped on Friday afternoon and spent a total of £50.14 as we grabbed some Halloumi last minute which took us over the £50!
So onto Saturday morning, the preparations…
We decided to go with a Union Jack theme as I have tons of them around that house, and I love giving events a theme!!
I then tidied up the garden in readiness for our visitors. Having two puppies meant there were toys every where! We were really lucky with the weather too, sunny but not too hot to sit out in it!
I made a basic salad of lettuce, tomato, onion and cucumber and dressed with french dressing I had made myself, which is rather good if I may say so myself!!
About an hour before our guests were due to arrive we got the BBQ going, this was the first time I’d used a ‘proper’ BBQ! I’m normally a gas user but for the occasion, we went all out!
The partner in crime was left to man this while I sorted out our vast selection of meat, and before we knew it our guests were at the door!
We cooked for a good half hour at least, and we were soon all ready to devour all that we had ready!
It wasn’t long before the Skittle Vodka came out and things got a little messy!
With good tunes on our iPod, Aldi’s Austins (basically Pimms) flowing, and great company this will be a BBQ we remember for the foreseeable future!
Such a bargain, and now I know I can entertain guest on a very low budget!
Thank you Money Supermarket for a great afternoon! I can’t wait to see your next challenge!

Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew
of any widgets I could add to my blog that automatically tweet my newest twitter updates.
I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this
for quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some experience with
something like this. Please let me know if you run into anything.
I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.
