I know that healthy eating should really be on my radar since getting my place on the 2015 London Marathon so this really appealed to me; Drunch in Mayfair is offering healthier options!
Londoners eat out on average four times a week and only half of all meals are eaten at home nowadays*. “Some of us are eating out up to three times a day; breakfast, lunch and dinner, so healthier options in restaurants are going to become more and more important as expenditure on dining out goes up,” says Laura Gutierrez Gangas of Drunch restaurant in Mayfair.
Aware of a growing need to offer at least one healthy meal a day for London’s regular diners-out, the team at Drunch in Woodstock Street, W1, has developed a new menu, launched this week, which focuses on naturally delicious dishes prepared in healthier ways.
Modern European salads, hot dishes, and desserts are on the brunch, lunch and evening menus. “Each dish uses top quality seasonal and natural ingredients, using good fats and cutting out fillers and artificial anything. And we make no compromise on taste or texture to bring healthier versions of our favourite dishes,” says Laura.
Crispy Chicken Milanese or Crispy Squid with Seasonal Szechuan Peppers are prime examples, and the restaurant is building a big following for the lower-fat cheesecake baked by a local home cook. The desserts and cakes are gluten free too.
As well as a new food menu, the drinks list at Drunch is full of refreshing and fresh non-alcoholic options, and also is prepared from scratch. It includes 24-hour cold-infused fruit and herbal teas including orange peel, mint and cinnamon; thick and tasty smoothies blended on the premises such as banana, date and coconut, and clever fresh juice combinations including strawberry and basil lemonade.
I know where I will be eating in future!
