It’s that time of year; the nights have got darker, the days shorter and the rain just keeps falling, so what better way to spend a Sunday than at the fabulous Taste of London Winter Festival in Tobacco Dock, courtesy of Electrolux, filling ourselves up with delicacies from around the world.
Before the vast amount of sampling began we headed up to the Electrolux Theatre to see what famous faces would be hosting live demonstrations on the latest small kitchen appliances from the Electrolux Inspiration range and were pleasantly surprised. The likes of Michel Roux JR and Mark Hix had already graced the stage, and my personal favourite, Raymond Blanc was yet to come! It’s quite amazing to think Electrolux have been supplying some of the biggest names in the game with their gas hobs and electric cookers for years and nearly half of the European restaurants featured in this year’s Michelin Guide have chosen Electrolux appliances for their kitchens!
We tasted Italian rice, French cheeses, Spanish chorizo, Danish pastries, English fudge and drunk the likes of Irish whiskey, Argentinian wines, Guyana rum, Portuguese Port and Welsh Gin. The smells that wafted around the architecturally beautiful Tobacco Dock were immense; barbequed meats, mulled wine and winter spices. It’s safe to say winter was in full swing with the lines of real Christmas trees and the rain non-stop falling outside the windows.
We made purchases of fresh bread, olive oil and balsamic vinegar for our lunch the next day, plenty of fudge for over Christmas, handy travel coffee (the ideal invention for a blogger always on the go!) and, of course, a cocktail for the road.
Thank you for our tickets Electrolux at Currys PC World, we had such a great day!
