Part two of the Shropshire Series is Shrewsbury!
Shrewsbury is the biggest town we visited in Shropshire and we loved it! It still felt very quaint, but had everything you need there! Here’s our top five things to do!
Visit Shrewsbury Castle was top of out list, although we managed to go there when it was closed! We also got lost on the way much to the delight of our watchers on Periscope; there were lots of dead ends, graffiti and weird alley way along the journey, but when we did get there is was lovely to look out even from the outside. The views from up top of the surrounding wall weren’t bad either!
If you’re into interiors like we are then you need to check out Vinterior. We purchased a new door mat, and an anchor for my nautical bathroom! There was so much more in there that we could of picked up, such as a huge skull with antlers but it would have never fitted in our car!!
There are so many lovely buildings in Shrewsbury including the Library and Town Square (pictured above) that it’s worth taking some time to have a wander and take them all in. We do love an old stone building so we were certainly in our element here!
Shrewsbury in general is a really great area for shopping, there are department stores, quirky one off shops and plenty of great places to eat. We made a stop in CEX and bouth 3 DVDs for £5 so we had entertainment for after dinner whilst staying in Bishop’s Castle. I’m partaking in 52 new films again this year so it was great to pick up a few so cheaply!
Lastly, Shrewsbury Market Hall had a huge variety of items to check out. We got some fresh fruit for silly money, picked up some more homewares and met some lovely locals.
We’d highly recommend a visit to Shrewsbury if you’re in the area!
Have you ever been before?
I used to work in Shrewsbury, next time you’re in town take a walk down to the Quarry, the park next to the river, always nice for a wander or a picnic. 🙂
