When you get an invite to try out the latest Welsh Wagyu Beef Burger on the Soho Joe menu, you say yes. You also battle the rain on the walk there, and endure the wet rat look whilst you’re eating as it’s so totally worth it.
We were greeted by the lovely family that own Soho Joe and Cookhouse Joe; mum and dad look after Soho and the two sons look after Cookhouse. I was sat a high table by Shaun, one of the sons, and he explained how the Wagyu Beef they use has a Japanese Wagyu dad and the mother is an Aberdeen Angus Welshie. Making their beef a hybrid called Welsh Wagyu!
Before we tried the beef we were handed two little snack size pizzas, it’s what they are known for, on a board. One was pepperoni and the other mushroom and truffle.
I really enjoyed them, Mike isn’t a huge pizza fan, but he loved the Pepperoni!
We then had a little chat about our days whilst sipping Prosecco, before the meaty goodness was placed in front of us.
Little did we know, we’d also get to be sampling the Wagyu Steak too!!
Look at that melt in your mouth delight… sorry vegans/veggies. I couldn’t miss this photo out!
But for me, the star of the show was the burger, who would have guessed it!?
It literally melted on my tongue, and there was no need for any sauces and it was moist enough. Whilst tucking into our burger we got to drink the Welsh Beer that the cows drink too. Yes, the cows get to drink beer and they even get massages; this is why the meat tastes so good!
I can’t skip over how good the chips were either; super fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside, just as they should be.
We had a fantastic evening, and I will be stopping back for lunch and trying out Cookhouse Joe for sure too!
Sounds really scrummy! Glad you had a great visit.
