Last month we spent a lovely weekend in Ludlow, it was exactly what I needed after the marathon, a long weekend working, a work trip to Copenhagen and non-stop life! The drive from us to Ludlow is around three and half hours, but with traffic, on Saturday morning it took us over four but I assure you, it was more than worth it!
Fishmore Hall is a stunning, recently restored, Georgian house filled with 15 luxurious boutique style bedrooms and these huge, super swanky bathrooms that are the perfect way to get away from the city life. You would never guess that this building was once derelict and in need of so much love that owner Laura has certainly given. They are even dog-friendly so this warms my heart greatly!
Also, the historic market town of Ludlow, my most favourite town in the UK that has a good mix of restaurants, incredible traditional pubs (try the Blue Boar Inn!) and independent food stores to stock up for home, is 20 minutes’ walk or a five-minute taxi ride so this is the ideal spot to base yourself for a culture filled trip.
On arrival, we were given a lovely greeting and shown up to your room. Luckily we were accompanied for the first trip to the room as I would have never found it as the hotel is so vast! Opening the door, I was so shocked by the sheer size of the room. Just look at that bed.
No seriously, look how far apart the pillows are! I slept so well it was unreal; I really needed this time out and by having such an immense comfy bed I was able to catch up on some sleep I truly needed! Mike slept like a log too!
Each room as a Nespresso machine with kettle too. You’re able to order hot milk and more pods should you need to from reception. We loved the personalised mugs and both being mega British we popped the kettle on for a cup of tea instantly!
Our wet room style bathroom was huge with a large shower in the corner that led down a small step to a sink that had these lovely Elemis product ready and waiting for us. The bath took up nearly half the room it was so luxurious! It was more than big enough for two should your weekend take that kind of path!!
We spent our afternoon in the spa which I shall be sharing later this week. followed by a photo-filled food post about the incredible restaurant, Forelles.
That was then followed by dinner which means there will soon be a photo-filled food post about the incredible restaurant, Forelles that sits within the hotel.
When we arrived back in our room, the bed had been turned town and we were greeted by the cutest box of Elemis products to ensure we slept well. The weather forecast for the local area was also a lovely touch as we would be venturing out in Ludlow the following day so we knew what to expect.
After our great night’s sleep, I awoke to the sound of the cows and sheep that were gracing this field we could see from out the window. There were no cars, no loud people; just sheer tranquillity.
It was more than safe to say, I didn’t want to get out of bed, but breakfast made that a little easier!
Just look how good those scrambled eggs are! I love smoked salmon but rarely buy it myself so this was such a lovely treat to have for breakfast. Mike devoured his Eggs Royal and had a smile on his faceso I’m taking this as a very good sign!
We really didn’t want to leave as we’d had such a peaceful weekend and we both felt so relaxed. Fishmore Hall is now a firm favourite for when we next return to Ludlow!
