When I visit Leeds, I like to make sure I eat in as many places as I can as they so many good restaurants around the city centre! I do always make a return trip to Pieminister as I love their food as it’s great value for money and their Christmas Menu definitely shows that! I recently visited with two of my favourite ladies and we were not disappointed, in fact, we had so much food we were actually defeated by it!
The Christmas Feast menu is so much food, but so much good food that we were so excited to try it after reading the menu! For £18 you get a starter, a pie with 2 sides, a stick and that’s all followed up by a pudding! Feast your eyes upon this vegetarian dream…
I began my meal with the Halloumi chips that are deep fried and served drizzled with sweet chilli and lemon. I was surprised just how much you got in this portion as I’ve had similar at other restaurants and received around 3 ‘chips’ not around 8 like this! Again, just showing their great value for money offering.
For my main cause I went for the Deep & crisp & vegan pie as I was really interested in trying vegan pasty and how Christmassy it would taste! This was created with creamy vegan turkey with celeriac, smoked garlic & sherry which was so bloody good! For those of you, like myself, that do eat meat, you wouldn’t notice the difference at all! The pastry was also just as good as their non-vegan pastry. For my two sides, I went for the Mash which is also available vegan and a side of my favourite of smoky baked beans which I always get when I go to Pieminister!
The stick I chose, which I wasn’t quite sure how this would work, was the Veggie option made up from a Stuffing ball, a sweet chilli & sesame glazed veggie sausage, aMini yorkshire pudding and, of course, cranberry sauce. When my meal arrived the stick was stuck in the top of my pie along with a paper Christmas hat photo prop that was used that evening! This was a super cute topping to my pie and went down a right treat!
There are three options for desserts and I went in for the hot chocolate pudding with chocolate sauce and ice cream, which was lush! There was the option of a Mince Pie ice cream but I wasn’t quite festive enough for ordering that, but Lizi did!
If this is a little too much for you, or you want to chow down at Pieminister during the day they have the lunch menu which is a two-course option, so you get everything we got but a starter and both menu options have the choice of adding a glass of fizz for £3. I didn’t opt in for the fizz, I ordered a pint of amber beer that was yet to be added to the menu so do ask your server if this is available as it was so good!
If you love Christmas and are looking for a different take on a Christmas meal then you need to head to Pieminister with a very empty tummy!
