London Living with an Alternative Twist!

Your Home Away from Home; The Chambers, Leeds *

I was very kindly gifted a complimentary stay at The Chambers, Park Place, in return for a review. However, as always, all opinions are entirely my own.

When we travel, we like to make the most of it by not spending too much time in our hotel room, but on the odd occasion we like to spoil ourselves with something a little more luxurious and take some time out; that’s what made ‘The Chambers’ on Park Place the perfect spot for us.

I took Mike for a long weekend up to Leeds for his birthday as he’s never been and I spend quite a lot of time up there! With so many amazing places to eat and drink, by the time Sunday night came around we were glad to take some time out, but what did The Chambers have on offer that a hotel doesn’t?

The Chambers is a very luxurious development of 63 stylish and contemporary serviced apartments, that combines the best of luxury city centre hotels with the freedom and space of your own apartment. So yes, we had our own superior one-bedroom apartment with a balcony right in the centre of Leeds.

Our apartment had a spacious living area with a balcony that I enjoyed my morning coffee on, a rather plush living room, a fully equipped kitchen, and a dining table should you choose to eat at home.

Our kitchen equipped with a microwave, toaster, kettle, plenty of pots and pans, cutlery, plates, mugs, and glasses; enough for four people as you’re welcome to entertain in your apartment as long as your guests have left by 11pm. You can bet, on arrival, that I looked in every cupboard as I’m so nosy and I was very impressed.

Our room came with a ‘Welcome Pack’ that was filled with your breakfast essentials including bread, baked beans, butter, and milk, with eggs you can pick up from the honesty bar in Reception, tea, coffee and sugar, dishwasher tablets and washing powder. The highlight for us was the homemade biscuits that we dunked in our tea after our breakfast of beans on toast which set us up for the day.

The honesty bar is such a lovely idea and shows just how much The Chambers thinks of the guest that stay there. We grabbed a bottle of wine on our way back to our apartment after dinner, Mike picked a chocolate bar and we just jotted down in the book what we had taken. You pay for all items when you leave and they are great value for money.

The luxurious living area is filled with a 2 seater sofa and an armchair, a large flat-screen TV with Freeview and selected Sky channels, and a  DVD player. Behind the curtains was our glass doors that lead out onto the balcony with views over Leeds and The Chambers garden area.  You get WiFi internet access as part of your room which was super speedy which made the odd pieces of work I had to very easy and a direct dial telephone should you need one.

Across the hall is the bedroom with a huge kingsize double bed that was so comfy that we most certainly turned our alarm and snooze off for! The room had everything you need in it, including a really spacious wardrobe that had a safe in, plenty of hanging space and was mirrored; so many rooms lack full-length mirrors.

We really did have such a good night’s sleep and we even had the TV on whilst getting ready which is a luxury for us as we don’t have a TV in the bedroom at home!

The bathroom was a really good size for a one-bedroom apartment, in fact, I think it was bigger than the bathroom in our flat! The shower was one of those rather lush raindrop style ones that I spent a little too long under with my shower cap on, really living the dream, I was!

The bathroom was filled with wonderfully scented Molton Brown goodies that just added to the luxurious feel of our stay. We had towels that were bath sheets which is so rare; I HATE tiny towels so I’m always elated when we get big enough ones when we are away. Since our stay, Mike has become quite the Molton Brown fan and it’s down to The Chambers!

There was one more space in the apartment that I’ve not mentioned; the utility cupboard with iron and ironing board that was used by Mike before we left and a washing machine that didn’t get used but is perfect for those that use The Chambers for longer stays, which is actually really popular with them.

All of the staff we came in contact went above and beyond to make us feel at home by giving us recommendations, chatting away and doing all this with a smile on their faces.

We really didn’t want to leave when the time came and we really have found our home away from home in Leeds. Until next time!
