Top Tips for Nailing Your Decluttering *

*Collaborative Post.

Think that your home is getting a little too full? It might be high time that you try decluttering. This is the ideal way for you to get rid of some of your excess belongings, create extra room in your home, and give you the opportunity to purchase something new.

Here are some of our best tips to help you nail your decluttering clear-out!

Be Strict

You have to be firm with yourself when decluttering. If you are able to come up with an excuse for hanging on to everything in your life, you are never going to get anywhere. All that is going to happen is you will hold onto everything and instead just reorganise it a little.

Be strict with yourself. If something has not got a purpose in your home and there is little to no sentimental attachment to it, you need to get rid of it. Get rid of it – whether it goes to a charity shop, you sell it online, or you simply chuck it. You can hold onto things that you have a strong connection with, but there is no point in decluttering if you are going to make a point of holding on to everything.

Set Up Storage Rotations

If you do want to hold onto some things but are worried about how much space they will take up in your home, you should look into storage options. A company like Stored Away can even come to pick up your belongings directly from your house, then take them away to store securely.

This could be an option if you have a large wardrobe but limited space in your home to store it. Keep your winter wardrobe in storage, and then swap it out with your summer one when the months turn colder!

Optimise Your New Spaces

With an ideal declutter and clear-out, you will be left with lots of space that you can then fill up again. However, you need to make sure that you then optimise the storage space that you have so that you are able to get the most out of it.

After all, your home is a finite space. By optimising your storage, you will be able to pack more in than you ever thought you could. There are many smart solutions that you can try, such as adding extra shelves and dividers to cupboards. Try to come up with a system that works for you so that you are able to pack more into your storage and take advantage of the space that you have.

Decluttering can seem like a mammoth task but it can go by much faster than you might imagine when you get into the swing of things. Take control of the clutter in your home and cut it down as much as you can. If you want to live a clutter-free life, it could be just around the corner for you. All you need to do is get started on your decluttering clear-out!
