Around the World Tasting with Jet2 in Soho, London

*Collab

Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday, so when they ask you to head out on a foodie walking tour around Soho, you go along to find out if nothing beats a Jet2 walking tour, right?! Right, especially when they’ve teamed up foodie walk tour extraordinaires, Chubby Fellow.

‘Why an earth were you wandering the streets of Soho eating up great food?’ I hear you ask. It was to celebrate the launch of Jet2 finally taking off from Gatwick Airport to some really incredible destinations, so we ate from a handful of those incredible spots to get a real taste for them.

So here’s what we got up to…

Basil & Croatian Gin Cocktail by Chubby Fellow

We kicked off our  tour around Soho with a Basil & Croatian Gin Cocktail mixed by the Chubby Fellow team themselves. It was a great little ice breaker and set the tone for the afternoon; we were gonna hear facts, we were gonna sample a lot of flavours and

If you want to try it for yourself, then it’s 60ml gin, 25ml lemon juice, 15ml sugar syrup, with a BIG handful of fresh basil. Shake really hard and double strain. Simple!

Jamon Iberico & Prawn Croquettes with Spanish Vermouth at Kroketa

Croquettes actually come from France, the word comes from “croquer” meaning “to crunch.” They were introduced to Spain in the 19th century and quickly adopted into everyday cooking. Once they landed in Spain, croquetas became a staple of home cooking and tapas culture. Unlike the French version (often potato-based), Spanish croquetas are typically made with a béchamel sauce base, making them super creamy inside. Traditionally, croquetas were a genius way to use up leftovers and my god are they delicious, so if you’re ever craving them and you’re not able to just hop on a flight over to Spain, the Kroketa is the place to go!

If a Spanish restaurant has good croquettes, you know the rest of the menu is gonna be good too, as the Spanish take their croquettes very seriously! I highly recommend trying the prawn croquettes as I’d never experienced them before!

Prosciutto San Daniele & Ubriaco Rossi Cheese at Lina Stores

Lina Stores Soho is an iconic Italian deli and restaurant that has been serving Soho since 1944, loved for its signature pistachio-green interiors and old-school charm. You will have definitely spotted it on Instagram, as it’s picture-perfect! Originally a specialist delicatessen, it has also opened a chain of restaurants known for their fresh, handmade pasta and classic Italian dishes, all rooted in simple, high-quality ingredients! Expect shelves of authentic Italian produce and a deli counter to rival all of those you’ve seen before. It’s the kind of place that feels both nostalgic and effortlessly cool, so you can see why it brings the crowds, it’s literally a case of came for the cute vibes, but stayed for the incredible hams and cheese!

Pork Souvlaki, Courgette Fritters & Greek Wine at Suvlaki

Greek dining here at Suvliaki leans into the traditional meze culture, lots of small plates designed for the table, from creamy tzatziki and grilled halloumi to fresh salads, warm pitta and seasoned meats, but you’ll also find street food influences like souvlaki and gyros, alongside more modern, elevated takes on classic dishes all paired with Greek wines (if that what floats your boat!). Having opened in 2015 and still being family-run, they have firmly made themselves the place to be if you need a slice of Greece whilst out in Soho! Side note, the tzatziki here was some of the best I’ve ever eaten, so fresh and delicious alongside the other flavours we got to try!

Pastel de Nata at Cafe de Nata

The pastel de nata is Portugal’s iconic custard tart, believed to have originated in the 18th century at the Jerónimos Monastery. Monks used leftover egg yolks (after using whites for starching clothes) to create these rich, creamy pastries. Made with crisp, flaky pastry and a silky custard filling, they’re lightly caramelised on top and often dusted with cinnamon. They arrived in England through Portuguese communities and growing café culture, becoming hugely popular in bakeries and coffee shops, especially in London, where they’re now a staple sweet treat and were our last stop on our awesome walking tour – the perfect way to end the day!
