London Living with an Alternative Twist!

Hey You! Are You Looking after Yourself?

We’re living in a world of constant pressure, tight deadlines, stress, worry and concern. It not only takes a toll on our physical health but also our mental health too. So it’s more important than ever to be taking care of yourself.

Sure, there’s nothing that a relaxing weekend trip to Italy won’t solve – click here for Opera Tickets Italy – but you don’t actually have to break the bank or fly across the world to feel better about things. Administering self-care is something that we all should be doing regularly. But with our busy lives and schedules crammed with social events, work priorities and other things we simply have to put first – how is it possible?

Well, I’ve come up with 4 self-care ideas that will give you a boost both mentally and physically. Enjoy!

Drink

No, I don’t mean a large glass of house white – although there’s nothing wrong with treating yourself! I’m talking about water. The good stuff. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day keeps your body and mind working well. It’s also good for your skin. Try to drink a glass of water as soon as you wake up – we’re usually a little dehydrated when we first wake up, so to avoid your day starting off a little rubbish, have a refreshing glass. You could even spoil yourself with a new reusable water bottle to take around with you – so you’ll always have the opportunity to keep your hydration levels up.

Write down 5 good things that happened today

You don’t have to have had the best day of your life, but studies show that writing down our feelings, or in this case – things that didn’t suck today – is a positive step towards healthy mental wellbeing. It could be that you nailed a parallel park, you didn’t burn the kids breakfast, you managed to keep your cool when things were getting stressful, or you just had an amazing lunch! Keep a little journal by your bedside and remember to write in it every day!

Make a weekly menu

Who doesn’t want to be that person who fills their shopping trolley with all the fruits and vegetables you can think of! Eating healthy sounds easy, until – you’re hungry after a busy day and you need food now! Making a rigid weekly menu – of meals that you enjoy – will make life a little easier, which will, in turn, reduce stress and stop impulse purchases: 5 share bags of crisps, a pack of doughnuts and a chocolate bar…

Move your body

Getting some exercise is great for all the obvious health benefits. However, it’s also good for your mind too. Want to demist that mind fog? Feeling a little out of sorts? Want to refocus, let out some stress or just enjoy some time on your own? Then start moving your body! Whether you hit the gym or break out the yoga mat at home and stretch your stress away, getting as little as 30 minutes of exercise a day will dramatically boost your mental health!
