The ever so lovely Penny and I (wait isn’t that a song) headed over to the pretty damn impressive Intercontinental Hotel on Park Lane to try out their Summer Scents Afternoon Tea.
The hotel itself is stunning on the inside, and the floral displays were incredible! Sadly I didn’t take any photos of this as I felt a little awkward snapping away whilst people were enjoying their holidays!
Well, the Afternoon Tea was beyond words! I have never been so full up in all my life!
We started with our first of many cups of tea… I think I drank 11 cups of 4 different types of tea!
Luigi, our incredible waiter, brought out out first course, yes this was just our first course! On top we had a Scents of summer inspired palate cleanser that included wheatgrass and pink peppercorns.
The sandwiches were too good…Smoked salmon and bergamot infused cream cheese scroll served on lemon bread, Rose pickled cucumber and mascarpone cheese served on Peruvian bread, Pink peppercorn on thyme chicken bound in mayonnaise and cucumber served on tomato bread and lastly Honey roast butternut squash with crumbled feta cheese served on spinach bread. Some of these were flavours I had never tried before and I was highly impressed!
We then had a second course of scones, and these weren’t your ordinary scones, these wereSultana and wholemeal scones with wild strawberry jam, devon clotted cream, Lemon and pink peppercorn curd and Earl Grey butter! Oddly enough I didn’t photograph these, but they do feature in the video I’m making of our day out!
We finished up with the largest desert platter I have ever seen! Penny has a nut allergy so they kindly made her a platter all to herself, and as Afternoon Tea goes, they never do one serving so we had enough between us for four people!
Just look at how stunning it is…
My platter consisted of:
Peach Melba mousse, Bergamot Macaroons, Violet cream and grapefruit tart, Jasmine Tea cake, The “Flower Pot” which was filled with Rose water and pink peppercorn jelly and wild strawberry mousse served in a chocolate “Terracotta” pot.
Even the pebbles were edible!
And of course they had to go and up the game again by bringing out the Pink Moët & Chandon Champagne!
I really can’t recommend this Afternoon Tea enough; the service was the best service I’ve ever had, the ideas and flavours were out of this world and the venue was beautiful. I mean it’s like they knew Penny and I are massive car fans letting us sit by the window to watch the incredible cars go by outside!
Thank you for an amazing experience.
Looks like an amazing afternoon tea!!
