When it comes to golf I tend to stick to the crazy type, as I seriously lack in skills, but after having a look at a few when the chap was discussing golfing stag dos with friends they actually look incredible! No, it’s not his stag do, don’t get your hopes up, we’d of have updated you far sooner than this if it was!
I was searching around on Golfscape as they have a huge array of destinations and tons of fabulous photos and I have firmly decided that a trip to Abu Dhabi should be on the cards for next year. I mean, the shopping is meant to be great there too, so it’s a win-win situation really!
There are so many lush courses that I could certainly see myself and the chap playing on; they all look a little too upmarket for my usual crazy golf attire so I’d have to make a stop at the golf store for some amazing trousers and visor. Golf wear outfit of the day anyone?!
Here are my top three courses:
God lord, look at the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club; stunning! The course overlooks the waterfront and marina, so a few ‘hole 19’ drinks would be more than needed with those views. It opened in January 1993 to world acclaim and since then it has been host to numerous tournaments and events.
Next up is Majlis Golf Course, the first grass course in the Middle East! I think it’d be a crime to travell that far and not play here. It takes its name from the Arabic word for ‘meeting place’. One of the most prominent features within the course is the Majlis building itself, it’s positioned between the 8th and 9th holes and has been a popular Dubai landmark since 1988.
Last up is Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, known for its natural beauty. As the Arabian Gulf’s first beachfront course, it provides breathtaking views, and has made sure it utilises the surrounding natural environment. The course has been designed to accommodate all levels of ability so this may be a great place for us to start! I also love that with the ‘Member for a Day’ package you get ice lollies included; such a quirky perk!
Have you ever golfed abroad?
