When it comes to engagement rings I’m not one to beat about the bush! I’ve spoken about it on my blog before and openly discuss with friends and family all the time. For those of you that are new here, I want a sapphire, and preferably a vintage one with a story behind. I’m not being demanding, I just don’t feel a diamond is for me as I’ve been bought them before so the thought of something blue and spark to wear would be perfect for me!
I’m one of those girls that can’t help looking at stunning gems on websites when I get a little distracted from time to time, and my latest find is Berganza. To make it worse, they have an entire section devoted to sapphire rings which I’ve become quite well acquaintanced with!
You know the drill by now, I’m going to share my wishlist…
Seriously, just look at how perfect they are.
I’ve also been drawn in by some of the aquamarine gems they have online too…
I so have a thing for blue toned gems!
I’ve not dared venture any further into the site as I know my list will get a little ridiculous but I think one day I may have to pay them a visit on Hatton Gardens to see them all sparkling in the window!
The reason I’m so interested in having a vintage ring is that they were made by craftsmen at a time when there was no mass production of gemstone rings and jewellers back them considered themselves artists. The details in a vintage ring are so intricate and delicate that I think it would be a struggle to find something of that quality being made today. Unless you pay a premium to have it hand made.
Would you want a vintage engagement ring? Or do you prefer modern looking rings?
I looooove these rings! I have a very similar one to the oval, darker blue sapphire but in a gold setting. It was my mums old engagement ring but the sapphire fell out so she replaced it with an opal and gave it to me for my 21st birthday. My dad is bringing his mums one over for me next weekend as well, which by the sounds of it is similar with a sapphire! I’ll send you a pic when I get it! <3
Oh yes please do!
I have a sapphire that was Mum’s 21st from Dad that I wear and I secretly wish she had kept it and given it to my future hubby when the time was right as it’s exactly what I wanted as an engagement ring! Would of saved some pennies!!
I LOVE vintage rings, they have so much character! xx
