When it comes to home decor and finding the most perfect finishing touches I always end up looking online for inspiration. I’m such a home proud person, and Mike is the same, that we won’t just pick something for the flat on a whim. We talk about it, see if it will fit the room we want and then go about purchasing it. This may sound crazy but it makes sense, honestly; you end up with a product you really love and you’ve not wasted money if the item isn’t right for your home if you buy it without thinking about it properly.
There’s obviously a hell of a lot of places online to find the perfect products for your home but recently UncommonGoods really caught my eye! They were founded almost 20 years ago in 1999 and are based in Brooklyn, New York. UncommonGoods is a privately-owned retailer that goes out of their way to feature unique jewellery, designer décor, tabletop items, and handcrafted gifts created in harmony with the environment without harm to animals or people. They run all of their operations out of an historic Brooklyn Army Terminal (which sounds super quirky!), where the lowest-paid seasonal worker starts at 50% above the minimum wage, that’s something I’m more than willing to get behind. They also support a lot of causes, including Reach Out & Read’s thousands of doctors and nurses who help promote early literacy, language skills, and school readiness to young children and their families in all 50 of America’s states. All good reasons to get a wishlist going and share with Mike aye?!
My first item, that I am so in love with the idea of, is this amazing door mat that you can personalise with your name! Our current door mat is a record that looks a little worse for wear so replacing it with this still keeps our musical theme going rather well! Now, all that’s left to decide is if we get Squibb, Hubert or Squibbert?!
Keeping up with the replacing older items, our globe has really faded from being on the window ledge and it’s probably time that we got rid of it. If we were to replace it with this quirky cork one we could pop pins into the places we have travelled together and move it onto the sideboard to make more of a feature of it! We both love to travel and both feel that globes are super sophisticated so we love having one in our living room! I really do think it’s all about those little accents of decor that you add.
If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know how much I love to use and post our little balcony space, so my final item would be a little something to add to that space. This is a succulent wall holder! We have a little wall space to the right of our balcony door and window and a couple of these could make great use of that space. It may not be a huge outdoor space, and I’m longing for a garden of my own but until then, I’m really enjoying making the most out of the space we do have!
Not too much to ask for are they?! What would you most like to complete your home?
