Creating a Mother’s Day Hamper and Supporting Independent Businesses

This is post contains some gifted items.

If you’ve been a reader for a while then you’ll know that I am a huge fan of supporting independent businesses and when it comes to creating gifts for people this is no exception. With Mother’s Day being just around the corner I thought I’d share with you some awesome brands that I think could work really well in a Mother’s Day hamper.

Dog Tea Towel

This super cute dog tea towel, in the top left of my hamper, is from Illustration by Abi. From her Edwardian home design studio at the foot of the Surrey Hills, Abi designs super quirky pet-themed products that can be purchased from her Etsy page or made to order with your own pets on!

The teat towel features some of the UK’s best-loved dog breeds including Airedale, Beagle, Collie, Cockerpoo, Dachshund, Dalmatian, French Bulldog, and of course, the Staffie! Made with 100% cotton, it’s a really high quality and just so cute! It also comes with a hanging loop so it can be proudly displayed when not being used too.

Candles By Katy

Katy is a 33-year-old mum to one who is passionate about all things interior. She’s a teacher by day, but for the past 18 months, she has been developing Candles by Katy due to her love of home fragrance and design around the home. Katy uses a combination wax which gives a beautifully clean burn but still creates a strong scent that will fill your room and the wooden wicks give an enticing crackle when lit which adds a unique experience.

I was introduced to Candles by Katy by Penny and as soon as I purchased my own I could see why she was such an advocate for the brand. The ‘Inspired by Creed’ scent smells like a proper sexy man so I’ve popped my candle in the hallway so you’re welcomed by the scent. My parents loved it so much that Mother’s Day is the perfect chance to get Mum her own!

The Diary of a Provincial Lady

When John Hatchard opened his world-famous bookshop, he was a much of a publisher as he was a book bookseller. Oscar Wilde was a regular customer and many of his books were signed sitting at the main table on the ground floor, known to this day as Oscar’s table which an employee would be more than happy to show you. In 1895, Hatchards published fifty copies of a little book of Oscar Wilde’s epigrams that he had chosen himself; this book is to be republished and stocked only at Hatchards along with a few other titles.

One of the other titles, The Diary of a Provincial Lady will be limited to 2000 copies with green cloth binding, gold foil dust jacket, and exclusive William Morris endpapers. The diary shares the trials and tribulations of the middle class during the twenties and has come highly recommended as a Mother’s Day favourite.

Tea and Biscuits from Fortnum and Mason

Fortnum and Mason may seem like an odd choice as an Independent business as it’s such a huge store, but the shop is a one-off and they are very much their own brand. They’re famous for their hampers, but I’ve chosen to create my own but it’s not going to be complete without some goodies from Fortnums.

I think the stunning Spring Flower Study Iced Biscuits and a little tin of Royal Blend Silky Tea Bags are the perfect combination.

Peture Perfect Subscription Box

To make your hamper the gift that keeps on giving, why not include a subscription box? I’ve chosen Peture Perfect Pet Subscription Box which is great for any pet lover, as they deserve treats too. Each box is different and features a gorgeous personalised item that will include either a picture of your pet or a hand-drawn illustration dependant on what box you chose.

Each month you will receive an item with your pets wonderful face on; much like Chess on this wonderful tote bag! Items include linen covered notebooks, chopping boards, mugs, greeting cards and so much more. I can’t wait to see what other items Chess’ little face appears on!

What items would you put in your hamper?
