If you’re an avid reader of my blog, then you’ll know that I’m getting married later this year so, obviously, that means there are lots of plans being made currently. One of those things on my list of items to plan is our honeymoon; there’s just so many options now that can be quite overwhelming deciding where to go, what to do, and when to do it! We also want to do things on a little more of a budget than some of our friends as we’re putting priority of our money into our house build. It’s all systems go at Casa del Squibb, I can tell you that for sure!
But where have we looked at for our honeymoon?
Bali has been on our list for years, ever since my parents went and loved every minute of it. We’ve looked at package holidays to Bali to help us keep the costs down and with it including your flights, often your transport to and from the hotel, and hotel packages that vary from breakfast only, half board, or all-inclusive means we can really keep an eye on how much we are spending before we even leave home.
For how much we like to adventure, breakfast or half board would be a lot more suited to us. We’ve also heard that the food and drink in Bali isn’t overly pricey, well certainly not what we’re used to living in London, so getting out of an evening and trying the local cuisine can be done too!
It won’t shock you that a wine-based honeymoon has been a big topic of discussion for us! We do love a vineyard visit, and together we’ve only visited vineyards in the UK. I’ve not visited Rioja in almost 30 years and I certainly wasn’t old enough to drink back then, plus Mike has never been so to with us both being Rioja lovers this would make an amazing honeymoon! There are 3 areas of Rioja, and we’d love to tour all of them!
We aren’t entirely sure if we can afford this one on a budget, but it’s been on our lists for such a long time too! The culture is of such interest to me, and I long to take in all the sights in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima and of course, ride the ‘shinkansen’ better known as the bullet train. We want to try authentic Japanese foods, visit an onsen to take away all of the stress when the wedding is over and just drink in the bright lights.
What are your 2024 travel plans?
