With its diverse and breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and fascinating culture, the UK is the perfect place for an adventure holiday. Whether you plan to explore the UK by foot or by bike, there are plenty of fantastic adventure holiday destinations to choose from.

If you’re looking for an exciting holiday close to home, here’s some inspiration for your next adventure in the UK.

Lake District

Visiting the Lake District is a popular staycation choice for many Brits as well as for tourists. It’s not unusual for globetrotters from all over the globe to come to the UK during their Europe tour to visit the Lake District.

England’s largest National Park, and home to England’s highest mountain and deepest lake, it’s hardly a wonder that the Lake District is also a World Heritage Site.

From its stunning scenery to the warm welcome you’ll receive in the quaint towns and villages, the Lake District is the perfect base for walkers and cyclists thanks to the many tours and trails available.

Jurassic Coast

Another World Heritage Site, but this time in the South of the UK, the Jurassic Coast is a 95-mile stretch of coastline, spanning the counties of Dorset and Devon.

Attracting millions of visitors each year, the Jurassic Coast is the only place on Earth where rocks from the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous Periods can be seen together in one place and is a prime spot for fossil hunters and enthusiasts.

However, if you’re looking for something a little more adventurous, you won’t be disappointed. There are also plenty of walking trails along the coastal path that will allow you to take in the incredible views. There’s also a whole host of water sports, on offer, and the chance to explore the smuggler’s coves of yesteryear.

Snowdonia

Boasting the highest mountain in Wales, and the world’s fastest zip wire, a visit to Snowdonia, North Wales is a must for thrill-seekers who want non-stop adventure in stunning surroundings.

Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) is world-famous, and no trip to Snowdonia would be complete without attempting to scale its 3,560-foot peak. There are a number of routes on offer to suit different hiking abilities.

The region also has over 50 miles of purpose-built walking and cycling routes that will allow you to safely explore the area and admire the scenery. Or why not try one of the circular coastal trails following the 180-mile coastline?

Scottish Highlands

The Scottish Highlands provide the perfect backdrop for any adventure holiday. With no shortage of things to see and do amidst its striking scenery, the Highlands are ideal for adventure lovers and nature lovers alike.

There’s no shortage of outdoor activities on offer in the Highlands, from mountain biking and hiking to horse riding and sailing. Walking tours and boat tours also provide the opportunity for wildlife spotting, where you might come across puffins, red deer and even seals! For a truly breathtaking experience, it’s also possible to view the Northern Lights from many parts of the Scottish Highlands.
