Garden Always A Mess? 3 Ways To Make It Easier To Keep Clear *

*Collab

Is your garden always a bit of a mess? If so, you’re probably very sick of trying to work with it by now!

But you can make a neat garden both easier to achieve and maintain; here’s 3 ways to get the job done without running out of steam.

Do One Job a Day

You don’t have to take on the entire job of keeping your garden clear at once. Do it one step at a time and prevent yourself from getting overwhelmed.

This week, clear the rubbish. Next week, cut back overgrown or dead leaves and branches. The week after that, rubbish again (if need be), and on and on the cycle can go. Just tackle what you feel really needs doing and leave it at that.

Get a Bigger Shed

It’s often as simple as that! It’s one thing to have a shed in your garden, neatly placed next to your planter beds to make sure your tools are always in reach. It’s another to have a large, more spacious shed that can fit more than just a mower and a rake without getting totally out of control!

Have a look around a garden center for the garden sheds that are at least 10×8 in size, as these should be about twice the size of the shed you’re using now. Clear some space, set your shed up, and then make sure you’re using a proper organisation system inside it.

Organise the Shed!

And quickly following on, let’s make sure your new shed is actually set up properly for your use. Because you can’t just keep throwing things in and locking the door behind you. You’re never going to stay on top of garden mess that way.

And let’s face it, you’re also not going to have the energy to sort through the mess inside the shed, only to then try and tackle the mess outside of it too.

But how should you organise your shed? Well, it depends on what you’re storing, for one. It also depends on how you approach gardening as a whole. For example, the tools you use on a regular basis should be near the door so they’re easy to just grab and go. As such, hang them off of hooks just inside.

Try to use all of the space inside the shed too. Store upwards as far as possible using tall shelves (just make sure you’re putting the heaviest stuff on the bottom).

Before you do any of that, however, make sure you go through everything you’re storing and throw out (or compost) the stuff you really don’t need anymore. Old grow bags, shoots that have since died off, broken tools you thought about fixing but never did – get rid and make the job a bit smaller for yourself.

Keeping your garden clear is an ongoing task, unfortunately. But you can make it a lot easier to manage with a better shed, better storage, and not trying to multi-task!
