Donate it to a Local Charity or Thrift Store

If you’re not attached to the piece of furniture and it’s in good condition, consider donating it to a local charity or thrift store. This is a great way to give back to your community and help those in need.

Sell it Online

There are a number of ways to sell furniture online, including through classified ads, auction websites, and even Facebook Marketplace. If you’re not sure where to start, doing a quick Google search can help you find the best option for selling your particular piece of furniture.

Refinish or Repaint it

If you’re handy with a paintbrush (or know someone who is), you could try refinishing or repainting the piece of furniture. This can be a great way to give new life to an old piece and make it your own.

Use it as a “Before” Piece in a Flipping Project

Do you like the idea of refinishing furniture but don’t want to do it yourself? You could always buy an old piece of furniture, refinish it, and then sell it for a profit. This is known as “flipping” furniture, and it can be a great way to make some extra cash.

Upcycle it Into Something Else

If you’re feeling creative, you could try upcycling the piece of furniture into something else entirely. For example, an old dresser could be turned into a bathroom vanity or a coffee table could be made out of an old door. The sky’s the limit when it comes to upcycling furniture!

Use it as Props in a Photo Shoot

If you’re a photographer or know someone who is, you could use the piece of furniture as props in a photo shoot. This is a great way to get some use out of the piece without actually having to keep it in your home.

Rent it Out for Events

If you live in a popular tourist destination or have a lot of events going on in your city, you could rent out the piece of furniture for those events. This is a great way to make some extra money and ensure that the piece gets used rather than sitting in storage.

Give it Away for Free

If you’re really not sure what to do with the piece of furniture, you could always give it away for free. There are a number of websites and Facebook groups where people can post items they’re looking to get rid of, so this is a great option if you just want to be rid of the piece.

Use it as Decoration in Your Home

If you’re attached to the piece or it has sentimental value, you could always use it as decoration in your home. This is a great way to keep the piece without having to find a place to store it.

Sell it to a Local Antique Store

If the piece is an antique or has some value, you could sell it to a local antique store. This is a great way to get rid of the piece while also making some money.

Store It in a Self-Storage Unit

If you’re not ready to get rid of the piece but also don’t have space for it in your home, you could always store it in a self-storage unit. This is a great option if you’re not sure what to do with the piece but also don’t want to get rid of it. Storage units are relatively inexpensive and can be a great way to keep your furniture safe while you figure out what to do with it.

Use It as Trade-In for a New Piece

If you’re looking to buy a new piece of furniture, you could always use the old piece as a trade-in. This is a great way to get rid of the old piece while also getting a discount on the new one.

Garden Bench

If you have a backyard or garden, you could turn the piece of furniture into a garden bench. This is a great way to make use of the piece while also adding some extra seating to your outdoor space.

Keep It as an Heirloom

If the piece has sentimental value or is an antique, you could keep it as an heirloom. This is a great option if you want to keep the piece in your family for generations to come.

There are a number of different things you can do with an old piece of furniture. Whether you refinish it, upcycle it, or simply use it as decoration in your home, there are plenty of options to choose from. So, if you’re stuck on what to do with an old piece of furniture, be sure to consider one of the options listed above.
